Why four or six

Bone at the back of the jaw is often resorbed, while the front usually retains enough volume. The All-on-4 technique uses this: the two posterior implants are tilted forward so they engage the bone that is there, which removes the need for grafting in most cases.

All-on-6 applies the same logic with six fixtures. It is preferred where bone volume allows, because load is spread across more points and the bridge survives if one implant has a problem. Which one applies is chosen from the CBCT — neither is simply "better"; one fits the bone.

Fixed teeth the same day

Once surgery is complete a temporary fixed bridge is screwed on the same day. You do not leave the clinic without teeth. That temporary bridge covers both appearance and chewing during healing, although hard foods are restricted in this period.

After three to four months, when the implants have integrated, the definitive bridge is made. The final superstructure can be zirconia or metal-reinforced acrylic; the choice follows the smile line, lip support and bite force.

11 — FAQ

Common questions

No. Because the bridge is screwed to the implants, the palate stays open. That is the clearest difference from a conventional full denture: taste is unaffected, speech settles faster and the gag reflex is not an issue.

Not yourself — the bridge is screw-retained and only the clinician removes it. Cleaning is done in the mouth with interdental brushes, a water flosser and superfloss. At annual reviews the bridge is unscrewed, cleaned underneath and refitted.

The All-on-4 technique was developed precisely for resorbed jaws; tilted placement removes the need for grafting in most cases. Where resorption is extreme, zygomatic implants are considered. A definite answer comes after the CBCT.

Five to seven days covers the first stage: planning, surgery, the temporary bridge and the first review. You then fly home. The definitive bridge needs a second visit of five to six days, three to four months later. Interim checks are done by video.
