Microneedling creates many microscopic channels in the skin, triggering the body’s own repair response. The channels close within hours, but the collagen production they set off continues for weeks. It is the method we use most often for acne scarring and uneven texture.

What it corrects and what it does not

It is effective for atrophic acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, uneven tone and stretch marks. Because it thickens the skin it is also used in thin areas such as around the eyes and on the neck.

It is not performed during active acne — needling can spread infection. For deep ice-pick scars it is insufficient alone and needs planning alongside subcision or laser. Setting the expectation correctly at the outset decides satisfaction with the result.

Serum choice and combinations

The serum applied through the open channels changes the effect substantially. Hyaluronic acid is chosen for hydration, peptides for repair, and exosomes or polynucleotides for tissue renewal. Which serum is used is decided after skin analysis.

Combined protocols are common: microneedling with exosomes, with Rejuran, or after carbon laser. These combinations are spread across a planned schedule rather than a single session; respecting the skin’s recovery time directly affects the outcome.

Common questions

Afterwards there is redness resembling sunburn: marked for the first twenty-four hours, reduced on the second day and generally normal by the third. Greater needling depth can extend this. Make-up is allowed after twenty-four hours.

It depends on the scar type. Superficial, widespread scarring shows clear improvement in four to six sessions. Deep, sharply defined scars need more than microneedling alone, and the result is "markedly reduced" rather than "gone". We discuss that at the outset.

No. A pen works with a vertical motion and the needle depth is adjustable by region; a roller enters at an angle and can tear the skin. Clinical treatment also uses a sterile single-use cartridge at a controlled depth. Home devices carry a markedly higher risk of infection and scarring.

It can be, but sun protection must be strict. Afterwards the skin is sensitive to UV and the risk of pigmentation rises. If a holiday with direct sun exposure is planned, we suggest scheduling treatment afterwards.
