The commonest mistake in skincare is classifying skin by eye. A large share of patients who say “my skin is oily” in fact have dehydrated skin that overproduces sebum to compensate. The care for those two situations is the opposite of one another.
What the analysis measures
Digital skin analysis images the deeper layers and produces four core readings: hydration level, sebum, pore size and the distribution of UV pigmentation, with elasticity and wrinkle tendency added to those.
UV imaging matters particularly because it reveals pigment accumulation that is not yet visible to the eye. With year-round UV exposure in Cyprus, that reading is the most effective way to make the case for sun protection in concrete terms.
How the result is used
The report decides two things: which protocol is used in the clinic, and which products are used at home. The second part matters at least as much as the first — a monthly facial is largely wasted alongside the wrong home routine.
On skin that is dehydrated but looks oily, for instance, mattifying products make matters worse; the right approach is repairing the moisture barrier. Without analysis, that distinction is hard to draw.
